Angharad and John – Hertfordshire Wedding planning

I met up with Angharad and John in the lovely little town of Berkhamsted before we travelled to nearby autumnal woods and a large common on the Ashridge Estate. Having photographed them as guests at a previous wedding, it was really nice to meet them properly and have a chat about their up and coming wedding plans. I’m really looking forward to what promises to be a beautiful and fun wedding at the gorgeous Tudor Barn in Buckinghamshire next year!

Lake District Wedding Photography – Rachel and Sandy

The wedding of Rachel and Sandy was a fabulous occasion. Guests converged from the far reaches of Scotland, Wales, England and Australia to North Lancashire and the Lake District to see two lovely families formally united. Rachelโ€™s preparations took place at the Castle Green Hotel in Kendal where we would return later for the reception….

Rachel and Sandy’s pre-wedding photography in the Lake District

Aaargh! The day we had arranged for Rachel and Sandy’s pre-wedding shoot was sandwiched between two lovely sunny days. Even that morning was clear and bright. But Rachel and Sandy were up from Liverpool and you can’t let a bit of a downpour hold you back in the Lake District, so we carried on regardless! And thankfully we did because the love they share is clearly evident whatever the weather. Looking forward to their wedding when they’ll be married at Bolton-le-Sands and celebrating at the Castle Green Hotel in Kendal later on this year!

Northumberland wedding photography – Becci and Josh

Becci and Josh are such an easy going and all round happy couple, it was a delight to spend time with them. They explained to me their affinity with the Northumberland coast having spent some meaningful time together there in the past, so what better place to choose as a location for their wedding portraits.

JO AND MARK’S WEDDING, HIGHCLIFFE CASTLE by Kendal Wedding Photographer

An overcast start, becoming torrential rain, followed later on by glorious sunshine. Such would have been the correct forecast for the day of Jo and Mark’s amazing wedding. It all went towards making up the brilliant tapestry of events that became Jo and Mark’s day. After stops at Canford Magna Golf Club and the Captain’s Club in Christchurch, we arrived at the beautiful Highcliffe Castle for the ceremony and reception. Thanks Phill Allen for having me along and thanks Jo and Mark for letting me capture your special day!

LAURA AND KEITH, Castle Green Hotel Kendal, Cumbria, Wedding photographs

It was a great experience capturing Laura and Keith’s wedding. They are such a fun, relaxed couple with a great bunch of friends and family who really loved the day’s events. The ceremony was held at St Marks church in Natland before everybody moved on to the Castle Green Hotel in Kendal for a fine meal and reception.

Jo and Ben’s Wedding, Hatfield House

The action started for Ben and his groomsmen at the White Hart in Welwyn. Next we moved on to the pretty St. Etheldreda’s church for Jo and Ben’s wedding ceremony, which is just next to Hatfield House, the childhood home of Queen Elizabeth I. Now it was home to Jo and Ben’s wedding reception which was held in and around the beautiful red brick Tudor Old Hall and knot garden.

Jasmine

Little five month old Jasmine was sooo good for these photographs. She is a happy soul, bright as a button and very talkative, just like her mum! When she wasn’t fascinated by the camera or smiling at mum, she was watching the birdies out of the window.

Broad Leys, Windermere

I’ve been helping a friend oil the wooden panelling inside the beautiful Arts and Crafts house Broad Leys on Windermere designed by Charles Voysey. It’s the home of the Windermere Motor Boat Racing Club and is sometimes used as a wedding venue.

“Try Another Hat”

While virtually the whole of the rest of the British Isles was under about a foot of snow (or more), we had roughly a centimetre here in sunny Cumbria. Still, the ground was white and the low sun looked lovely so we took the opportunity…

Snow! Kendal, Cumbria

Snow at last, and plenty of it! Snowballs, lots of snowmen including a snowgiant, super-fast sledging, fun, fun, fun… until its been around for weeks and we’re sick of it!

Staveley village, Cumbria

Staveley is a great little village near Kendal in the Lake District. Its the start of the beautiful Kentmere valley; just follow signs for Kentmere village following the River Kent as it winds along the valley. If you’re ever there, make sure you visit Staveley Mill Yard, home of Wilf’s Cafe, Hawkshead Brewery, Wheelbase bike shop and More Bakery amongst other fine, tasty local businesses.

Windermere Ferry

The Windermere Ferry has been operating for over 500 years, but not this particular one! It started as a rowing boat and cuts from Ferry Nab near Bowness to Far Sawrey; a handy shortcut to Beatrix Potter’s Hill Top house at Near Sawrey. It was so chilly there were plates of ice floating on the lake looking across to the Round House on Belle Isle.
