Waterhead Hotel Wedding.
“We loved how you were always there to capture the moment but we hardly noticed. You made us feel very relaxed and thank you for standing outside in the wind and rain persevering to get the pictures we wanted! They are beautiful! I absolutely love them and can’t believe you got any outside given it was a 30 second sprint to the car and back! Thank you so so much.” Laura and Mark
Laura and Mark got married at the lovely Waterhead Hotel in Ambleside. The couple got engaged there earlier in the year when Mark had taken Laura there for a Birthday weekend away. They both fell in love with the hotel and immediately knew they wanted to get married there.
The wind and rain kept up all day ( it is the Lake District after all ! ) but they didn’t let that spoil things and even braved the weather to have some photos outside. It was a lovely day with thoroughly nice people.
” Katie Dale (hair and make up artist) was amazing. She was so much fun to have around on the morning and really put me at ease.”
” As soon as I saw the dress hanging up in the shop I knew that would be the one I would buy. I loved that it was quite simple, but the lace top, sequins and buttons down the back made it feel special. I tried on two others just to satisfy myself but knew nothing else would come close ! “
” The hotel is so beautiful that we hardly needed any decorations for the room. We purchased some colour coordinated lights from Cotton and Cable and personalised wooden letters from Jonny’s Sister. We didn’t really need anything else ! “
” I walked down the aisle to Ellie Goulding, ‘ How Long Will I Love You‘. It still gives me goose pimples every time I hear it.”
” I’m quite an emotional person so I practiced the vows over and over until I was sure I could get through them without crying. All of that went out of the window on the day, but fortunately Mark knows me well and had a tissue on hand! “
” Our favourite part of the day was going outside to take the photos. After all of the excitement of getting ready, the emotion of the ceremony and the happiness of celebrating with our guests, it was really special to have that time to talk to each other, take it all in and realise we were actually married! Although I’d been worried about the forecast in the run up to the wedding, Thomas reassured us that it really wouldn’t matter, and he was absolutely right! “
The lovely Sunbeam Alpine belonged to Mark’s Dad who sadly passed away, Mark and Laura were keen to have it included in their photos and so braved the weather! (And it wouldn’t be the Lake District without a few ducks thrown in!)
Laura and Mark’s flowers were from Valerie Anns Florist in Windermere.“We had a brief meeting with Michelle and decided to leave the rest to her. We couldn’t have been happier with the flowers that arrived. We were going on honeymoon straight after, so we asked the hotel to put little notes with them at the end of the night and deliver them to the rooms of our guests who were staying over – they were too beautiful to waste! “
” One of my good friends Jess made the cake for us. It was designed to match the style of my dress and shoes. Lace at the top, plain with a row of buttons in the middle and then dots at the bottom like my shoes.”
” I decided to do all of the day stationary and wedding favours myself. After a few trips to hobbycraft, several online orders and what seemed like a never ending supply of sticky back tape, I had eventually made everything we needed. I even got Mark involved! “
” My favourite photo is on the pier at night with the rain drops twinkling like stars.”
” Our first dance was Take That – ‘Greatest Day’ .”
” Gary was recommended to us by the hotel. All of our guests said that he really made the wedding. I’m sure you can tell from the photos that he was much more than just a DJ. Him and our bridesmaids made a comedy act. It’s a good job we didn’t have any other entertainment because they wouldn’t have been able to compete ! “
” We absolutely love Thomas’ style of photography. He made us feel so relaxed and I think that really shines through in the photos. He captured all of the emotion and happiness of the day and we have beautiful photos that we will look at for years to come. We stumbled across Thomas’ website online and we are so glad we did – we couldn’t be any more pleased. The only difficult part is choosing which photos to put in an album – we’re still working on that ! ” Mark and Laura
